| Known in Southern China since the Han dynasty (around 200 BCE), Chinese  Char-Peis may have once served as fighting dogs. Today, their adorable,  wrinkly faces and well-behaved, loving temperaments make them excellent  pets. Males and females are 18 to 20 inches at he withers.
