BREED DESCRIPTION
The immediate ancestor of the Toy Fox Terrier is the Smooth Fox Terrier, which originated in England. The Toy Fox
Terrier differs from its larger brother in that its ears are usually carried erect instead of folding over. The
United Kennel Club began registering the Smooth Fox in 1912 and the Toy Fox was developed between that time and the
mid-1920s.
Toy Fox Terrier dogs remain playful all their lives. The breed is self-possessed, spirited and
determined. They are easily trained, alert, loyal, fearless and highly intelligent.
Energetic, lively and
strong for their size, Toy Fox Terrier dogs are amazingly agile as well. The breed can get most of its exercise
playing and jumping into laps.
The dogs weigh from 3.5-7 lb.
The coat is short, satiny, shiny, fine in
texture and smooth to the touch.
A rubdown with a hound's glove will keep this breed looking great.
